Thermal Safety:
Firefighting electric generators boast extremely high performance in compact dimensions. The measurements are determined in DIN 14685-1. Consequently, high thermal loads, even when installed in firefighting vehicles, are constructively addressed by the manufacturer. Mag Motorn electric generators are designed for continuous operation, using only components that meet industrial requirements.
Electrical Safety:
DIN 14685-1 also specifies electrical requirements for electric generators and the associated electrical safety. Electric generators are serially produced with the safety measure of "Potential Equalization Separation." Additionally, all electric generators are equipped with insulation monitoring, which together with the previous measure forms an additional safety element.
Some technical terms in the field of electric generators:
Low consumers:
These are consumers that draw the same current at startup as during operation (light bulbs, hobs, heating elements, ...)
Inductive consumers:
These are consumers that can draw up to 8 times the power at startup compared to the power listed for operation. These are various electric motors (single-phase or three-phase). This must be taken into account when choosing the power of the electric generator.
Power:
The specified power (apparent power) in electric generators is denoted in VA (voltamperes).
Power factor (cos phi):
This is obtained from the ratio of apparent and working power, usually used for three-phase current consumers. The acceptable value is 0.8. If the power of the electric generator (indicated in VA) is multiplied by this factor, the working power of the generator is obtained (indicated in W - Watt).
Working power:
It is measured in watts. The power stated by the manufacturer can be easily assumed when operating low consumers. For inductive consumers, the power factor must be taken into account.
Synchronous generators:
MAG Motorn exclusively uses synchronous generators suitable for all users. Generators can be cooled internally (IP 23 mode) or externally (IP 54 mode). Those used in outdoor environments must comply with the IP 54 mode.
Mag Motorn firefighting electric generators meet IP 54 requirements.
